Natalie Leon is a Japanologist, author and researcher, based in London.

Passionate about traditional Japanese tea, culture and seasonal living.

My Background

I have been surrounded by Japanese influences ever since my childhood in the Hertfordshire countryside. After several years running an award-winning independent small business, I made the decision to return to my life long love for Japan.

Since then, I have handpicked yuzu in Kochi, slept in a Buddhist monastery in Koyasan, celebrated hanami in Kyoto, made wagashi in Kanazawa and survived an earthquake in Kumamoto. I carried these experiences home with me and began sharing my passion for Japan through my Japan-focused Instagram account. Pursuing my interests in kimono, tea, and Japanese seasonal traditions.

I hold a Masters Degree in Japanese Studies, from SOAS, London, specialising in Japanese art history and anthropology. Following my studies in East Asian art history at The Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

"Natalie has an academic commitment to studying Japanese culture and has an eye for Japanese aesthetic sensibilities."
